12 Interesting Facts about Moms across the Country

Yes, Mother’s Day is over. But at SheKnows, we celebrate the entire month of May. What makes us different? What makes us unique? And what makes us alike and links us in this sorority known as motherhood?

We sought out to answer that question and surveyed more than 4,000 women across the country last month to get a peek into moms’ minds. Some of what we found was surprising (South Dakota moms are more likely to have sex every day – you go girls!); some was, well, what we expected (moms across the country do most of the cleaning and cooking); and some was just plain cute (85 percent of kids believe in Santa, followed closely by the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny).

My favorite fact? Moms in my home state of Mississippi are more likely to be against eating their placentas– how’s that for some light dinner conversation? And my current state, Arizona, has the fewest number of women who wear mom jeans (3 percent versus the national average of 17 percent). I’d love to see where we net out in terms of wearing short-shorts, though. It gets blazing hot here.
