I’ve learned that I’m just not a beach person anymore. I used to look forward to a relaxing day at the beach but, by the time I’d set foot on the sand, I’d secretly be counting down the minutes until I could leave. Enter kids, and I don’t think I’ll ever let them know such a place as a beach even exists.
I have a feeling fellow mom Deva Dalporto is in agreement. She compiled the 18 “easy” steps to take your kids to the beach, and it’s so accurate, it’s scary. First, pack your beach bag, but “make sure you forget that one toy your kid really, really wants to play with.” It also doesn’t hurt to “have at least one child refuse to wear shoes and then freak out because the sand is hot.” And when the kids start throwing sand, here’s hoping it gets everywhere, “including in the food.”
Still not convinced about this whole take-your-kids-to-the-beach day? We’ll let you watch step seven on your own . . .
